چکیده

Birds contribute indirectly to human welfare as majority of them feed on insects and rodents some are efficient scavengers. Poultry forming is a leading profession which provides nutritive food products for consumption. However, these valuable resources can be infected with wide range blood parasites may affect their survival existence. In this study, the impact Haemoproteus, an intracellular sporozoan parasite common pigeon. Columba livia heamatological parameters (Hb% TEC) was examined. The investigations were conducted in two groups livia. Group A: Control, B, Heamoproteus infected. Hb values (13.410.17gm/100ml) A decline (10.8±0.37 gm/100ml) B. TEC B also declined 1.620.05x106/Cmm from normal 2.19±0.02x10/Cmm A. fall Hb% 18.97%. that 24.2%. more affected (24.2 %) compared (18.97%). Being parasite, metabolism appears directly associated cells.

Orthographic processing in pigeons (Columba livia).

Learning to read involves the acquisition of letter-sound relationships (i.e., decoding skills) and the ability to visually recognize words (i.e., orthographic knowledge). Although decoding skills are clearly human-unique, given they are seated in language, recent research and theory suggest that orthographic processing may derive from the exaptation or recycling of visual circuits that evolved...

Some Components of Flocking Behavior in the Rock Dove (columba Livia)

--Observations of Rock Dove foraging behavior and estimates of individual vigilance indicate increased benefits for those birds in the center of the flock relative to those individuals on the periphery. Additional observations of reaction distances and responses to an approaching human also show increasing benefits for central Rock Doves as flock sizes become larger. Benefits to those birds on ...

Visually Elicited Head Rotation In Pigeons (Columba livia)

Horizontal rotational head movements were video-taped from pigeons standing freely in a rotating cylinder. The cylinder carried vertically striped patterns approximating a sinusoidally modulated horizontal intensity distribution. We altered systematically various stimulus parameters: spatial wavelength and contrast of the pattern, angular velocity of the pattern motion and mode of motion onset....

Imitation of conditional discriminations in pigeons (Columba livia).

In the present experiments, the 2-action method was used to determine whether pigeons could learn to imitate a conditional discrimination. Demonstrator pigeons (Columba livia) stepped on a treadle in the presence of 1 light and pecked at the treadle in the presence of another light. Demonstration did not seem to affect acquisition of the conditional discrimination (Experiment 1) but did facilit...
